I got an early position..

Hi ! Just wanted to let you all know that I have accepted a PGY1 position in Ob/Gyn outside of the match and will be starting work from Jan 1st. Thank you all for your kind support during all these days.. I just have to tell all of you who are still going through this match process- DO NOT GIVE UP.. Do not listen to any negative advice. My scores are 75 & 82. I graduated 10 years ago.. have some OBGYN exp in my country.. & 99.9% of the people thought I was crazy to even think I could get into Ob/Gyn. Well, I guess I have proven them wrong!
As I have said many times before.. to succeed in this country, all you need is to BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND YOUR ABILITIES & work towards achieving it. No stone should be left unturned. Never ever think... whats the point.. why should I do it... Just do what you have to do & you will get the returns!! All the very best of Luck to all of you.. May God Bless you! I will do my best to answer whatever questions are posted in the forum... but do forgive me if there is any delay as I will be travelling a bit - to relocate. I feel it would be great if others could share their experiences too and post here in the forum after they match- so that the students for next year will get the inspiration to keep trying! :)

I got an early position..

congratulation acharajrao!
your post is quite inspiring..i am an obgyn applicant for next match!
I tried this year, applied to 27 programs..got 5 ivs. ,d'nt get any spot!
i hope i can make up for 2008 match!! my scores are 93/94/2006 grad/certified/taking step3 soon/no home country obgyn experience! i cannot think of any other speciality than obgyn!! i find it really competitive..very few spots, AMG's in competition!! but whatever i will try my best this time! i would really appreciate if you have any advice for me for next yr application!

:) Yes.. Thats so very true.. Just have a positive attitude and really work towards getting interviews.. & once you do get the interviews.. be yourself.. Do not give any routine answers.. say what YOU feel is right.. not what you think they want to hear!
Good Luck..Hope all of you who are trying to match this year.. match at the program of your choice!

Congrats Archrajrao!

Congratulations and I wish you all the best in your career! I find your story/experience truly inspiring on a personal level, as I am an old graduate too with not-so-brilliant scores. So far I only have 1 interview and am preparing to scramble. But as the great Yogi Berra once said, "It ain't over 'til it's over!". And it definitely ain't over 'til the fat lady sings! (forgot who came up with that one...)

if u had...USCE...i meam US clinical experience and US LOR.. if so , what kind, observership or externship? and how to look for it.... Thanks! I did have 6 months of observership at the hospital here & was also working as a medical assitant in a ObGyn office. The only way to get an observership is to visit each and every hospital in the area with your Cv and meet maybe the chairperson or the head of the concerned speciality that you want to take up.. Also you can try emailing them and see if you get a response. Most people help.
All the best!

COngratulations Archanana. I remember the first time we communicated here and I thought you have the "go get it" and "never give up" attitude and I was pretty sure you would make it! Well, I am glad you did make it! We appreciate your work on this forum and want to tell you that you are a great source of inspiration for others. Keep posting as you continue your career and keep helping others! I believe that "when you through your bread on waters in good faith, it will come back to you one day - with butter on top of it".
Good luck and God bless!

:) Thank you.. & right now, am getting stressed out abt moving!
Dr Prab.- maybe we could start a new section on moving/ relocating tips etc.. this would help people when they have to relocate following the match. Not only abt relocationg, but apartment search, looking for room mates, anything that concerns starting your residency .. & also a job forum for those in the 3rd & 4th years??? :D

I got an early position..

Congratulations archrajrao that's great news and excellent advice! Thanks for all of your help in moderating this forum.
