Radiology: Is It the Right choice

Is Radiology the right choice today.. With so much of organ specific imaging and the turf wars, is the position of a radiologist in trouble.. Heard that the other medical specialities like the cardio, nephro are constantly competing with the Interventional Radiologists to snatch work... Also, heard that Interventional Radiology is going to become a new speciality with 5 years of training and it would also include patient care and clinical attachments..IS it true??? I plan to be a radiologist, so any necessary guidance would be highly appreciated..

what about Interventional

what about Interventional Radiology being a new speciality... Are those just speculations or is it true?? Also, what is the difference in an Interventional Radiologist and an Interventional Cardiologist... I have heard that the cardiologists are taking away most of the work which used to be done once upon a time by the interventional radiologists??
Please guide me on that..
warm regards.

Hi, Any specialty will have

Hi,
Any specialty will have some competition from nearby specialties but from what I know, radiologists do make decent amount of money, much more than general internal medicine etc. It is still very competitive to get into radiology which also testifies to the demand. I would not worry too much about the organ specific imaging since the existing specialists would not have had the training in interpretation and things take so long to change in medicine. So, if that is what you like to be, do not worry about these issues. All the best.
